Although through fire Braddell's were forced to temporarily set-up their business in Rosemary Street. Belfast in 1877 they were back at their old address by 1880.  However, with new management/owners following the death of William Henry Braddell in 1879.

An Open and Closed Case. Finding the unusual.

                                   An Open & Closed Case. Always when out and about on my travels I hope to find the unusual of which the attached is. A beautifully made burr walnut revolver pistol case possibly for a Tranter and containing not a trade label but a dispatch label dated 6th October 1879.  This indicating that Trulock & Harriss of 9 Dawson Street, Dublin had possibly ordered this case from a case supplier? Trulock & Harriss traded at 9 Dawson Street, Dublin, under this title from 1854-1897. Ryan 5 foot Barrelled Fowling Piece (Converted).

                                              A Five Foot Barrelled Fowling Piece by Ryan.              My good friend and keen shot Ian Parker shouldering the Ryan from my collection. Although converted from flintlock this is a superb piece showing all the details of a gun from the late 18th century. A raised shelled apron around the top back tang and overall fine balance. A gun I bought over twenty years ago in Oxfordshire and one that I'm always pleased handle. The question I'm always asked is how does it shoot? I don't know I'm too frightened to shoot it!!!
