 Beautifully finger printed pattern to shotgun barrels with figured top rib engraved 
Henry Allport & Son Cork. 

Allport's traded under this title between c.1867-1883. Prior to this Henry Allport traded c. 1820-1863 in his own name.  The company records and directory details are vague in relation to the years 1864-1866.

The above states "Son" yet an advert dated 1867 states "& Sons".

A rare gun case bought from County Kildare.

                           One of those special days when a gem turns up in County Kildare. A percussion sporting gun case once housing a Thomas Calderwood gun of c.1835. The trade card states that Calderwood was gunmaker to his Excellency the Lord Lieutenant a position they held with at least two Lord Lieutenant's of Ireland. The Calderwood's traded from 14 North Earl Street, Dublin (1815-1897). We are always interested in buying good quality gun and pistol cases especially those with Irish  provenance. This trade label being extremely rare and in fine condition. One of our  lucky days!!!
