These totals are part of over 1300 weapons found within this survey registered between 1844 & 1846.
It should be seen as a very small percentage of the total 300.000 weapons that were believed to be in private hands during this period.

We are always interested in material related to the gunmakers of Ireland and information related to the 1843 Registration Act.

A rare gun case bought from County Kildare.

                           One of those special days when a gem turns up in County Kildare. A percussion sporting gun case once housing a Thomas Calderwood gun of c.1835. The trade card states that Calderwood was gunmaker to his Excellency the Lord Lieutenant a position they held with at least two Lord Lieutenant's of Ireland. The Calderwood's traded from 14 North Earl Street, Dublin (1815-1897). We are always interested in buying good quality gun and pistol cases especially those with Irish  provenance. This trade label being extremely rare and in fine condition. One of our  lucky days!!!
